The focus of the department has been and will continue to be valuable service to the residents and visitors of our community, professional development of a well-trained and competent workforce, and the safety of our citizens. In addition, we strive to conserve resources, operate safely, and be valuable members of the town and contribute in any way we can.
The Richmond Fire Department is made up of 25 call firefighters. We provide 24-hour protection every day. Since no two emergency calls are the same, we are prepared to handle a variety of emergency response situations. The department places a priority on firefighter training, planning, fire prevention and public fire safety education. OPEN BURNING PERMITS
The State of Maine requires a fire permit for any open burning. The fire permits can be obtained from and extended by Fire Chief Matt Roberge. The daily weather broadcast from the State determines if permits are issued or not. There is no charge for the fire permit. You may also inquire about burning permits on the State of Maine Website at: www.maine.gov/burnpermit/
